Heading back again as much as the 1920’s, the media has portrayed bears as portly creatures, most of whom use unwell-fitting apparel, and all of whom are both currently snacking or hoping to obtain snacks.
But that is not very accurate, or honest!
1st of all, practically no bears put on clothing. That’s just ridiculous. Really don’t get me incorrect, it’d be delightful if they did activity tiny pink tee shirts, or enjoyable combinations like a green hat with only a necktie, but expecting a bear to obtain a tailor is absurd and we shouldn’t question that of them.
Next, reducing bears to gauche snack-fiends is a gross stereotype and I, for 1, will not stand for it. Positive, they’re enthusiastic eaters. Voracious, even. And indeed, at times their pursuit of food leads to small crimes like breaking and getting into, or destruction of residence, or grand theft automobile.
But which is not for the reason that they are gluttons! It’s because they’re connoisseurs.
Ibrahim Sedef is an agricultural engineer from Trabzon, Turkey, whose operate in beekeeping resulted in a large amount of firsthand experience with this kind of connoisseurs. The area bears speedily acquired a style for the honey manufactured by Sedef’s bees, and would usually trash his hives in the middle of the night so they could get at it. Which, I will confess, is a bit rude. Sedef attempted numerous distinct methods to guard the hives from the bears, which include boxing them in metal cages, and leaving out other foodstuff for the bears like fruit, bread, and even other forms of honey!
As we have mentioned, even though, bears are foodies, so they weren’t intrigued in generic-brand honey or deterred by road blocks like metallic cages.
They needed that artisanal, farm-to-desk great shit.
Eventually, Ibrahim Sedef gave up hoping to hold the bears absent, and instead determined to use their refined palates to his benefit. He set up his surveillance digital camera in front of a desk and positioned 4 unique forms of honey he had crafted, each individual in its possess labelled dish, and let the bears do their factor.
The subsequent day, Sedef would review the footage and history the results. As it turns out, the bears all regularly went for the actual identical honey first and more often than any other.
The fan beloved? Anzer honey — the most high-priced a person by considerably. Like, truly high priced. Like, $300 per 2-lbs . costly.
So if a bear at any time wanders into your campsite or yard and rummages as a result of your foodstuff, take it as a compliment — plainly what ever you’ve been cooking up is fantastic enough for some pricey style buds!
